Barack Obama is shown with an edge against John McCain in a North Dakota presidential race that has narrowed to a statistical tie, according to a new Forum poll.
The survey shows Obama squeaking past McCain, 45 percent to 43 percent, a lead that falls within the poll's margin of error and therefore indicates a dead heat, according to political analysts.
This is a very interesting poll. First, because it shows Obama in a slight lead in North Dakota. Second, because it calls into question all those assumed states that have yet to be polled or are rarely polled like South Dakota, South Carolina, Georgia, and such. I would add Hawaii, Rhode Island, and the like but I don't think that it is likely that Obama has lost any ground in states like that--despite the fact that pollsters insist on continuing to poll California and New York while rarely polling Nevada, Indiana, and West Virginia.
